where he gave guest lectures about current state of the art in
distance education technology, illustrated with detailed descriptions
of ongoing experiments in this arena at the University of Michigan:
the "Globalization and the Information Society" seminar of Prof.
Derrick Cogburn and the "Global Product Realization" course of
Prof. Debasish Dutta. The audiences for these lectured included:
in Plock: faculty and students of the Department
of Informatics at the Pawel Wlodkowic College
in Torun: faculty and students of the Humanities
Department at the Nicolaus Copernicus University
In Warsaw: Members of Parliament (Sejm), representatives
from the Polish government and the British Council, CEOs of private
companies with interest in educational technology, deans and department
heads of institutions of higher learning in Warsaw.
Several participants expressed their desire to
maintain contact and explore the possibility of collaboration between
partners in Poland - whether from public or private sector - and ACT,
School of Information, or U of M. A a follow-up e-mail discussion
will survey the areas of common interest as a first step to an eventual
joint project.
