On the first day of this national conference Lija Bentley and Vlad Wielbut presented a 45-minute talk entitled: "Kicking the Tires: Experimenting with Distance Education Technologies at the University of Michigan School of Information". The talk, well received by a standing-room only audience  of around 100, described two experiments in delivering graduate-level courses to geographically dispersed students through a mixture of Web-based tools, both synchronous and asynchronous. It highlighted the instrumental role of ACT in setting up and supporting the experiments. Slides from the presentation (in Microsoft PowerPoint 97 format) are available for download.
